Call for international solidarity with strikers and demonstrators in Iran

Seven weeks have passed since the beginning of the revolution in Iran. The protests and strikes that started simultaneously in Saqqez have now reached almost all places in Iran. Workers and trade unions called for a general strike from the first day. Shopkeepers in Kurdistan, truck drivers and teachers from all over the country are some of the different groups that have joined the strikes. This mass strike in Iran deserves the attention and admiration of all working people*, including in Germany.
The repression in Iran has a class character. As political activist Atena Daiemi says: "Even among the arrested there is class discrimination. A large proportion of those arrested in the ongoing protests are from working class backgrounds. More than 250 workers have been arrested during the strikes at the Abadan and Bouschehr refineries alone."
Thus, the current protests are not only against the system of sexual and gender apartheid, but for the freedom of all oppressed and marginalised groups and bodies.
